Clark Shepherd launches Shepherd Equine Advisers

Longtime Thoroughbred breeding & sales professional Clark Shepherd has launched Shepherd Equine Advisers, a new full-service Thoroughbred portfolio management company.

From his time on the breeding side as a pedigree analyst to his most recent experience as partner in the consignment company Allied Bloodstock, Shepherd is venturing out on his own and into the public forum for the first time. His services will be principled on proven systems that have garnered many breeding successes over his nearly 30 years in the industry, including personally mating several Graded stakes winners through his “Optimal Mating” system.

Among the most prominent racehorses that Shepherd designed the mating for is Kentucky Derby (G1) winner and champion Animal Kingdom, and 2017 Metropolitan Mile (G1) winner Mor Spirit.

“I’m excited about the opportunity to build relationships with like-minded people who, very simply, are looking to buy or breed a better racehorse,” said Shepherd. “Success in this business is not by accident, and it can be had if you laser-focus in on the right things. I like to call it ‘designed luck’ – or utilizing the principled tools and measures that have proven to be successful.

“I’ve been really fortunate to have a lot of great experiences working in many facets of this industry at many levels, including the breeding and sales areas of the business. It’s given me a front-row seat, and you learn the discipline and key factors required to find the right opportunities among a sea of wrong opportunities. I believe it has all equipped me with a confident ability to help others enjoy success and have a well-constructed game plan,” he added.
